Revelation watch: Day 6

Revelation watch: Day 6

Look to the Bible for signs of the End Times

Current events may include events unique to the End Times, but they are not necessarily the indicators that we are in this prophetic season.

Historically, we know that the earth has experienced cataclysms, including major earthquakes, volcano eruptions with worldwide effects, big meteorite hits and a great flood.

Humanity has survived numerous wars, pandemics, genocide (including the Nazi Holocaust), famines, and economic upheavals. These things in of themselves do not tell us that we are in the period leading up to the return of Jesus Christ.

Although we know that such things will occur during the End Times, Jesus said so in Matthew, Chapter 24, the real proof that we may be in that season lies in fulfilled prophecy. Are we seeing events taking place that correspond or match End Times’ prophecies in the Old and New Testaments? It is quite easy to get caught up in the excitement that prophetic dreams and visions generate, but that is not the point of divinely inspired dreams and visions. We should view them as warnings that prompt us to read the Bible more prayerfully and with closer attention.

The prophet Jeremiah warned his fellow Israelites for decades that they would suffer judgment if they failed to return to the Lord. They did not listen and went into Babylonian captivity. The birth of Jesus into humanity was prophesied for centuries, and it happened. Signs and wonders marked His birth. Jesus said He would be killed but would rise again; and it happened. Jesus prophesied that the Jewish temple in Jerusalem would be completely destroyed, and it was. Jesus prophesied that conditions on the earth would be like in the “days of Noah” before the great flood. He also said He would return; and He will.

Focus on the Bible for clues about whether events are part of the End Times instead of the other way around.
