Revelation watch: Day 5

Revelation watch: Day 5

The rapture: September 28, 2020 ... Why not?

Every eye will see Him.Rev. 1:7 (DZN photo)

Brenda Weltner, a lifelong Bible study teacher, believes and teaches that the rapture, or at least the first one, likely will take place on September 28, 2020. The Day of Atonement/Yom Kippur falls on that date.

It is without doubt that we are living in a prophetic season, and we may be the generation that will witness the physical return of Jesus Christ to the earth. Even if the rapture does not occur this month, we are certainly near the time of those events related to His return that the Book of Revelation describes. Give or take a month or even two or three years, we don't have much time left before we will experience "transformation." The apostle Paul wrote in I Corinthians about how we - the dead and the living will all be changed, "in the blink of an eye."

Scripture

I Corinthians 15:52 (NLT) - "It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed."

Weltner further believes that after the living are changed or transformed, they will not be raptured immediately. They will have 10 days of ministry on the earth before meeting the Lord in the clouds. The 10 days are to occur Sept. 18-28. (Sept.18 is Feast of Trumpets/Rosh Hashanah) Believers will have glorified bodies during the 10 days, just as Jesus had His glorified body after His resurrection and before He ascended into heaven. Glorification is an established doctrine in Christendom. The question here is whether believers, in their glorified bodies, will also have a unique opportunity to minister before they are caught up. That would be simply awesome.

There are several reasons for giving Weltner's interpretation of Revelation (ask the Apocalypse) serious consideration:

She bases her findings on the timing of the rapture and glorification on the Bible - not on current events - trying to match up what is going on in the world with the Bible.

She believes that Jesus is our model for what are to do. I truly believe anyway. What did Jesus, in His glorified state, do after the Resurrection and before going back to heaven?

Weltner believes that the activities of believers during the End Times will not be a show or performance to bring attention and credit to themselves. Jesus, though the Son of God, conducted His earthly ministry with humility and with the spirit of a servant. He did not seek audiences with kings or high-level officials, and He did not try to arm-twist the "spiritual leaders" of that time - the Pharisees and Sadducees. He did not stay in the synagogues to minister; He went out to where the people were. He did not seek preeminence. He did not conduct His ministry as a personality cult. Jesus is our "ministry" model.

Weltner asked the Holy Spirit to open her understanding of Revelation, which is what we all should do. Instead, we find Christian authors and social media commentators attacking other Christians for their views about the rapture, the Return of Jesus Christ, the sequence of events, and the role of believers in all of this. A total lack of love and humility.

It's the same thing with demagoguery over which Christian Bible translation is the "only one" Christians ought to read, along with arguments over whether it's right to set dates to End Times events. Historically, people have set many different dates for the end of time (the end of this age), but missed the mark.

Well, I believe that Weltner's interpretation of Revelation is worth our consideration. Read the scriptures she uses in her Bible lessons, pray and ask the Lord about them.

This countdown is not for the asteroids, next pestilence, economic collapse, and so forth. It is to see where we find ourselves later in September, according to the proposed timeline. Other Bible teachers also believe in multiple raptures - the snatching of two or three groups of believers at different times of the End Times. If thousands of believers, including children, are suddenly missing - remember that you read about here before it happened. If you didn't make it, then you must repent and turn to Jesus with your whole heart, soul and strength. Persecution will get tougher after the first group that was spiritually ready and waiting expectantly for Jesus - is taken.

Followers of Jesus have many wonderful things to look forward to. We have some spiritual warfare to get through first. Hang in there. Stand fast. Encourage yourselves with God's word and pray for each other.

Shalom!
