Whether to delete social media accounts

To delete or not to delete? That was the question.

The Rev. Diana Washington-Valdez/Faith Today Christian Ministries

I've been debating whether to delete one of my Twitter accounts, the one devoted to news and political commentary, same with the other Facebook news page.

 Just when I get ready to do it, I come across someone (usually a stranger) who is asking for prayer, or someone who is reaching out to the digital world for support. That's happened more than once on the non-ministry pages.

At least for now, I will maintain both Facebook and Twitter accounts. I know that personal fellowship is best, but in this day and age, those of us on social media may be the only way others have to reach out for help, prayer or an encouraging word.

Social media is not a substitute, and I try to encourage people to join a church community or find fellowship with Christians where they live who will pray with and for them.

The God of the Universe is not limited by space, time, church buildings, or social media platforms.

Praise song with lyrics

Psalm 99:1-5 (NIV)

"The Lord reigns,
let the nations tremble;
he sits enthroned between the cherubim,
let the earth shake.

2 Great is the Lord in Zion;
he is exalted over all the nations.

3 Let them praise your great and awesome name—
he is holy.

4 The King is mighty, he loves justice—
you have established equity;
in Jacob you have done
what is just and right.

5 Exalt the Lord our God
and worship at his footstool;
he is holy."

Shalom!

Proclaim your health with God's Word

Proclaim your health with God's Word every day:

Proverbs 3:7-8 (NIV)

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.

8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.

Proverbs 4:20-22 (NIV)

20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.

21 Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart;

22 for they are life to those who find them
and health to one’s whole body.

James 5:13-15 (NIV)

13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone happy? He should sing songs of thanks to God.

14 Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the church leaders and they should pray for him. They should pour oil on him in the name of the Lord.

15 The prayer given in faith will heal the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

The Lord is sovereign. He can use doctors to heal us, He can heal us miraculously and instantaneously, or He can heal us miraculously gradually. He can combine medical care with His healing touch. However it's done, thank Him!

- Shalom
