Revelation watch: Day 11

Revelation watch: Day 11

Death and destruction

1 Peter 5:8
(ESV) - "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour."

September 11 in this time zone is nearly over, and based on news accounts, it appears that nothing out of the ordinary occurred in the United States related to the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Memorial services to commemorate the victims killed in the September 11, 2001 jetliner attacks were carried out without any problem. According to 911memorial.org [1], 2,977 people from 93 nations died as a result of the coordinated attacks.

The memorials this year took place against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. World-0-Meter [2] indicated that as of today 28.6 million cases of the coronavirus were reported worldwide, including 919,715 deaths; of those cases, 6.6 million were reported in the United States, including 197,421 deaths. Massive fires continued today across the West Coast states of Washington, Oregon and California, casting an eerily apocalyptic air to that part of the nation.

A website that tracks natural disasters and other earth changes reported today another earthquake in Chile, this time magnitude 6.2. The website, watchers.news [3] also carried numerous articles about extensive flooding in other parts of the world. Amid the global coronavirus pandemic, unusual fires and water are displacing thousands of families.

Ephesians 6:12 (NIV) - "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

Revelation 21:3-4 (NLT) - "  (3) I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.   (4) He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

John 3:16 (NLT) - "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."

The countdown continues tomorrow ...

Shalom
