The Tree of Life
Interestingly – the tree of life appears in Genesis and in
Revelation - the beginning and the end. Humanity’s access to the tree of life
was denied after the fall, when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden but
was made available once more after God’s redemption went into effect.
The choice before us is eternal death or eternal life.
Choose life.
Genesis
Gen. 2:8-9 - "The Lord God
planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he placed the man he had
formed. 9 The Lord God caused to grow out of the ground every tree pleasing in
appearance and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the
garden, as well as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Gen. 3:22-24 - "The Lord God
said, “Since the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, he must
not reach out, take from the tree of life, eat, and live forever.” 23 So the
Lord God sent him away from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he
was taken. 24 He drove the man out and stationed the cherubim and the flaming,
whirling sword east of the garden of Eden to guard the way to the tree of
life."
Revelation
Rev: 2:7 - “Let anyone who has ears to
hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I
will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of
God."
Rev. 22:14-15 - “Blessed are those
who wash their robes,[a] so that they may have the right to the tree of life
and may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers,
the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and
practices falsehood."
