Aaronic blessing: Avoid blocking this prayer of blessing

Aaronic blessing:
Avoid blocking this prayer of blessing

The Aaronic or priestly blessing can be found in Numbers 6:24-26. It
is well known. Many church pastors used to end their services with a
benediction that included this special prayer. I hardly hear it anymore,
except maybe for Jonathan Cahn, a Messianic Jewish rabbi, who always
ends his televised services with this blessing.

The Lord himself authored it - just like He did with the "Our Father" prayer. It reminds
me that Christians should be a constant source of blessing to others.
Let us find reasons to bless others. Proverbs 3:27 (NKJV) - "Do not
withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of
your hand to do so."

I will share though that on at least three occasions the Holy Spirit blocked
me from saying the Numbers 6:24-26 blessing on others for reasons I did
not understand at the time. I started to say the prayer over them and
was unable to continue. It made for some awkwardness that fortunately
went unnoticed except by me.

My suspicion is that the people involved in these blockages - they were church people - may have needed to repent of sins related to the occult, to include oaths made to
forbidden secret societies. The sins might be something they forgot
about or did not think of them in terns of sin. Such sins must be openly
renounced to put an end to divided loyalties. I can think of two other
possibilities for the blockages...

We must understand that we serve a holy God, and that we must keep our repentance up to date. We must repent. He forgives and He washes away our sins. It is that simple.
