The Lord is our banner Jesus is our banner
In several places of the
Bible, the Lord describes Himself as a "military" commander and as the
Lord of Heaven's armies (the Lord of hosts).
The story in Exodus 17:8-16 offers an example of how the Lord goes before us to lead in battle. We must also give him the glory for the victory.
Exodus 17:15, depending on the translation, refers to Him as Jehovah-Nissi or Yahweh-Nissi, which means the Lord is our banner, and it is one of the titles of the Lord. Some armies have fought with a flag of their country, or as in times past, they fought under the banner of a certain king or emperor.

The Lord has told us that He is our banner. In these times of trouble, let Him lead the way and let us follow Him.
Exodus 17:15 (NLT): "Moses built an altar there and named it Yahweh-Nissi (which means “the Lord is my banner”)."
And from Isaiah 59:19: "When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him." The Hebrew word for "standard" is banner.
