Sin separates us from God, Jesus provided the remedy: Himself

Sin separates us from God
Jesus provided the remedy - Himself

John the Baptist pointed out why Jesus came and the fact that "sin" is our principle problem.

John 1:28-29 (ESV) -

"28 These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

John the Baptist stated in few words our human condition: We are in sin - rebellion against God - Jesus had to come to save us from the penalty of sin. Romans 6:23 (KJV) - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
He also identified Jesus as the sacrificial lamb of God who could take on our sin and its penalty so that we could receive forgiveness and eternal life.

Our problem is not politics or philosophy or psychology or religion. It is sin - and our unwillingness to let go of sin is what will lead to eternal separation from our Creator.

Salvation is a gift from God; rejecting Jesus will seal our doom. We didn't deserve it, but Jesus died in our place so we could live.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NLT) -

 "2 For God says,
“At just the right time, I heard you.
On the day of salvation, I helped you.”
Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation."
