Fast and pray for a breakthrough

Fast and pray today

Today, as in every Thursday, you are invited to participate in prayer and fasting to achieve breakthroughs in your journey with the Lord.

It's a partial (Daniel-type) fast, which means you can modify it, depending on your needs and schedule.

For example, you can skip one of your usual meals, or choose not to during a certain time, i.e., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. You can drink water, coffee, tea or juice during the fast.

This can help with prayer petitions for healing, deliverance, spiritual growth, becoming more attentive to the Lord's leading, seeking a closer walk with God, looking for a job, praying for the needs of others, and much more.

There are several references to fasting in the Bible, including Matthew 17:19-21 (NKJV):

"19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”

20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your [a]unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

21 [b]However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Fasting represents self-denial. It is not the fasting per se that moves the Lord to grant us His favor; it is the humility with which we approach Him, along with our faith in Him.

See Luke 17:5-6 (NKJV

"5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”

6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you."

Among those who fasted were:

Jesus Christ, who began His earthly ministry with a 40-day fast - Matthew 4:1-2 (NKJV)

"1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry."

Moses, who also fasted 40 days when he received the Ten Commandments from the Lord
 -
Exodus 34:28 (NKJV

"So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments."

Anna, the prophetess in the New Testament, Luke 2:36-37 (NKJV)

"36 Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;

37 and this woman was a widow [a]of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day."

Blessings to everyone, and may the Lord have compassion on us as we bring to Him our petitions.

Lord, we give you thanks for what you have done, for what you are doing and what you will do for us. In the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. - Amen!

Blessed be the name of Jesus Christ, who is worthy to be praised.

(Please pray for Jazmine, Patie, both to be healed/delivered completely of cancer.)
